The CSAA Mission

The CSA Aquaponics project catalyzes collaborative partnerships to ease the food burden placed on our oceans, by promoting a reliant local food source through Aquaponics Education: teaching communities and individuals how to grow organic food locally and sustainably.

The CSA Aquaponics project has two main goals:

  • Teach individuals and communities how to be food self-reliant.
  • Ease the pressure off of the oceans to have to produce so much food for the human species.

The CSA Aquaponics project is made up of three principles:

  • Aquaponics: a mini ecosystem harmonizing hydroponic vegetables and aquaculture.
(see About CSA Aquaponics for more details)
  • Community Supported Agriculture (CSA): the community pays the farmer in advance for food production in exchange for fresh produce throughout the year. This guarantees the community a local organic food source, and the farmer a customer base. A win-win-win for all!
  • Teaching the Teacher: an exponential effect happens when one student teaches another student of any age how to build an aquaponic system as well as how to teach how to build an aquaponic system.
